We were advised of the sad news about the death of Claude Mathieu in Thonon-les-Bains, France, on 22 August.
Jacques Nègre notified that Claude was with Flopetrol/Testing. We briefly overlapped in the early 1980s in Jakarta. Much more recently he was a colleague shareholder in Galli Coz, a French oil & gas exploration company in La Meuse, Lorraine, France, along with Jacques, Yves Maria-Sube, Dominique Delsol, Bernard Deschamps (ex-Sedco-Forex), Pierre Dupal (ex-Total, brother of Louis Dupal). Philippe Labat (ex-Fina, ex-Elf-Aquitaine…).
Claude joined Flopetrol Testing in Melun, France in 1975 and worked extensively over Africa, Far East and Europe until 2001
“Triste nouvelle, Claude Mathieu, notre ami et co-actionnaire dans Galli Coz, est décédé il y a 2 jours à Thonon-les-Bains, sur les rives du Lac Léman.
Sad news, Claude Mathieu, our friend and c0-shareholder in Galli Coz, died two days ago in Thonon-les-Bains, on the shores of Lake Geneva.
Notified by Jacques Nègre, also a co-shareholder in Galli Coz.”

- Not working anymore, just time to time as consultant.
- Taking care of my 3 kids.
- Sailing et fishing in Lake Geneva.
- Ski instructor for school kids during winter.
- Looking for gas in eastern French (La Meuse)with Galli Coz.
- I sailed 10 years ago from Gabon to Europe.
- Producing alcohol in my parent farm.
- Published a book “Eaux de vie” in LIBRIS or NEVA France.
- Finish the boat trip after Eritrea and the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden between Somalia and Yemen, not a very safe place!!!! Stopped one month in Oman waiting for the wind, then sailed to Seychelles in December 2007.
- Sailed in November and December 2015 from Tonga to New Zealand
