Joseph van Valkenburgh has passed away on Monday 28th October in Houston, Texas, aged 62.

His funeral will be a private event for close family only.

Joe joined Schlumberger Wireline in North America in 1986, only leaving in 2020 over 34 years later. Most of his career was spent in Houston, where he was currently Chairman of the Board of the Schlumberger Employees Credit Union. He held numerous senior roles in North America including Vice-President Cased Hole, IT Manager, HSE Manager, and Global Program Manager for the Global Activity Capture (GAC) Platform.

Joe also had international Schlumberger assignments in Italy Kuala Lumpur, Paris and London (where he was seconded to Network Rail for 3 years responsible for the IT infrastructure for the UK Railway!).

Joe was currently working with Stanford SEED assisting companies in India, and was VP Product Development for dSolve developing a new Wireline tool.

We understand that Joe was being treated long term for some sort of cancer, but his death was nevertheless unexpected.
