Peter Jarvis – July 2022

6 Aug, 2022 | Obituary

Margaret called me this morning with the sad news that Peter Jarvis passed away peacefully earlier this week. His funeral will be held at St. Chads Church, Shrewsbury at 2 pm Wednesday 10th August.

Peter was an icon in Schlumberger and will be greatly missed by family and colleagues, especially over the many years when he was a regular participant in ALLIANCE Schlumberger reunions. (Jim Donegan)

I remember Peter being a steadfast and loyal contributor to Intercom Magazine over the the years; articles with his photos and by-lines graced the magazine and are now happily a part of our archives. How immensely kind and caring members were not only to Peter but also to Margaret during the reunions he attended most recently; knowing he was not well this showed a communal communal concern for the beloved man Pater was (Nancy Sayer)

Peter and I met in London while he as EUR Technical Manager and I was running the Unit FLICs. Besides his great professional sills and passion for accuracy, he was a very pleasant and amiable person, with a great sense of humour and a permanent special smile. They visited us in the Alps some years ago and he snatched some of my neighbour’s elderberry tree flowers to prepare a strong liquor only he ken how to make. Later I visited them in Shrewsbury; his health was already declining but his mind was still capable of solving the most expert sudokus, a passion we shared. (Gerard Zivy).

Peter joined Schlumberger in Montelimar, France in 1962, followed by assignments in Asia, Australia, Africa, Middle East, Paris, North Sea, South America, India and London over the following 29 years.
