Pickard Trepess died on May 23. He was a victim of Covid 19 and died in isolation in a Hungarian hospital after 50 days on a ventilator. Pickard had a few idiosyncrasies, but that is common with exceptionally intelligent people, which he definitely was. His wife and daughter are devastated and, like others who lost family members to the pandemic, claim the hardest part was not being able to visit them during their final days. His desperate struggle to breathe was terrorizing torture that exhausted his depleted physical resources, so he was kept in an induced coma, so he could relax enough to just survive, on a ventilator. The disease continued to slowly destroy his lungs. Yes, many people do survive Covid 19, but those who don’t, die a horrible way.’
Pickard joined Dowell in 1977 at FTC in Pau, France, then on to Egypt, working in Middle East, Africa and Europe, including both Paris and St Etienne.
