Sorry it took a bit long to answer, we were looking into this after your -email.

Taxi and/or Uber art not recommended at this point in time.

We recommend you contact the same local agency we are using for the events. They can arrange transportation with their partners.
The typical transportation in the area Cancun-Merida is with a 6-seater van and the cost is fixed for one or up to 6 passengers. The estimated cost is Mex$ 9,678.46 or approx. €474.3. You’ll be met and greeted at the airport and dropped at your hotel in Merida.

Please let us know so we can arrange that for you with the agency.

Hello. I’ll arrive at Merida (MID) March 3rd 6:52PM. I have booked a transportation from the airport to the hotel through the travel agency Orbitz. The transportation company is SHUTTLE CENTRAL. As I am by myself and it will be late, could you please confirm that this transport is safe and can be trusted. Otherwise thanks to let me know which company I should contact.

I contacted Jose L Lacruz as I had a similar question, and Jose provided this information:

“You can use authorized taxi from the airport or if you want a safer one, the Agency that is helping us with tours, can arrange for airport pick-up, if you prefer this option”

The contact person at the Agency is: Miguel Angulo. Phone Number (for WhatsApp): +52999 9082 874

They would prefer communication via e-mail or WhatsApp

Data they will need for transport reservation:
– Complete name of passengers
– Airline and flight number
– Arrival date and time
– Confirm if the service is one way or if need return back to the Airport, including the return date.

Hi Hifzi, Danielle,
I have found Merida to be one of the safest places I have seen, thanks to “agreements” among “interested parties” in keeping a familiar and safe environment in the area. Nevertheless, we must follow the usual international travel precautions.

It seems that many of us are arriving on UA1426 on March 3rd. I contacted vetravel.com.mx by email and asked if they can handle the volume or if they are planning to have a mini bus for all of us. Hopefully I will hear from them shortly.

I do have a question. Many citizenship’s do not require a tourist visa to enter Mexico but we still need to provide a Tourist Card (FMM). You can do that online but Merida airport is not in the available port of entries.
Has anyone has been successful at downloading an FMM online?

You are right that Merida is not listed in the drop-down selection for Port-of-Entry when trying to apply FMM Online.

However, a friend who often travels to Mexico informed us that the flight attendant will give us the form to fill-out during the flight.

Ok. The transport guy (Miguel) is going to contact me this afternoon. I will find cost and minimum/maximum number of passengers that he can handle.
If we are looking at getting a shared ride from the airport to hotel, who else is interested that is arriving in UA1426 on March 3rd?

Just got word from the transport guy. He can provide a minivan for up to 6 passengers for MXN$905 (about USD$45), which is considerable more expensive than a local taxi (about MXN$100-150) but still manageable.
Let me know if both of you (actually 4) are ok, and I will take care of the cost.
You can buy me lots of drinks during the weekend.
Also, I need to know if you change your mind so I can offer the space to someone else or go with a local taxi.

It has been quite a task to get confirmation for the transport from airport to hotel.
It seems that Merida is flooded with tourists this week and there are not enough transports available.
Since last Friday I have been in contact every day with the transport guy and, only today, I got the final confirmation for the following passengers:

He had to subcontract the services to another transport company: YUCATAN PLUS.
Staff will be waiting outside with yellow shirt and blue trousers. Staff will have a sign with the company name. Company phone number: 999 351 2233
