Anyone able to watch the new Ridely Scott drama The Terror, reminds me of Richard Tom Thomas, a famous Schlumberger son, who used his Schlum eranings to build Northanger, with which he made the first and only to date British crossing of the North West Passage in a yacht in 188/89. He taught me to climb and we worked together at Schlum, making the first CSU logging job for Statoil in Norway. Sadly he died in an avalanche on his way back down the west coast in 1989 climbing Mt Waddington. RIP Tom. Miss you.
